The impressed mark on the bottom of this delightful porcelain basket reads Chamart France. Chamart was started in the 1950’s in Limoges; they are the company that brought Limoges boxes to the U.S. by designing a collection for Tiffany and Company. French beaded flowers are one of their other specialties.

The white porcelain basket is beautifully detailed. The body has a basket weave pattern with a bow tied at the base of the handle on both sides. The handle has a pattern of crisscrossed ribbons going over it. The blue flowers are Saintpaulia Ionantha, better known as the original African violets. The tiniest green beads were used to make the oval green leaves, while the small white flowers have five petals, small green leaves in various sizes and even several white spadices (spikes). The whole arrangement is permanently fixed into the basket with a bed of tiny white pebbles.

The basket is 5 ½ inches long, 5 inches tall to the top of the handle and has a 2 ½ inch oval base. Both the arrangement and the porcelain basket are in excellent condition.

This is a petite French jewel that will brighten any spot in your home.
